Azizjon Kamilov: "We hope that we will continue the tradition of winning the first medal for our delegation at the Olympic Games in Tokyo"

Today, the representative of the national judo team of Uzbekistan Bekmurod Oltiboev celebrates his birthday.

Bekmurod Oltiboev was born on June 17, 1996 in Surkhandarya region. Winner of tournaments from the Grand Prix series in the weight category +100 kilograms. At the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, he won a bronze medal. At the World Championships of the same year, Oltiboev managed to reach the semifinals. Currently, as you know, on June 6-13, Budapest hosted the next World Judo Championship among adults, which was successful for the national team of Uzbekistan. 18 judoists participated in the competition on behalf of Uzbekistan in the individual and team direction. Davlat Bobonov (-90 kg) managed to win a silver medal. In addition, for the first time in the history of our country, Uzbek judoists in the team-mixed direction won a bronze medal at the World Championship. Today, the NOC organized a press conference dedicated to the results of the World Cup and preparations for the Tokyo Olympics.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the NOC of Uzbekistan, chairman of the Judo Federation of the country Azizjon Kamilov, Deputy Chairman of the NOC Sherzod Tashmatov, Chairman of the Council of Sports Veterans of Uzbekistan Bahodir Mahsitov, Olympic champion, head coach of the national judo team of Uzbekistan Ilias Iliadis, our compatriot Abdullo Murodov, who conducts his activities as secretary of the sports commission of the International Judo Federation, coaches and judoists, media representatives.

The event was opened by Azizjon Kamilov. During the press conference, a video dedicated to the success of judoists at the World Championship and a presentation reflecting the activities of the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan in recent years and plans for the future were presented. Then the participants asked the questions they were interested in.

"The last competitions have shown that some countries were not able to participate in full. The reason for this is that it was difficult for many countries to finance the process of preparing for the Olympics. Taking this opportunity, we would like to thank our government for the support of our athletes and the conditions created. As for the championship, we are happy with the results. As it was also noted in the presentation, our athletes were not in maximum athletic shape. We work individually with Sharofiddin Lutfillaev. He has a sufficient number of points, so we conducted special training with him. We hope that we will continue the tradition of winning the first medal for our delegation at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, " Azizjon Kamilov said.

In turn, Ilias Iliadis shared his impressions:

"I am next to judoists 24 hours a day. In addition to training, we also communicate on other topics — personal life, experience and much more. The result at the World Cup is the work of each of us. We have achieved success thanks to our unity. The President is creating all the necessary conditions for the team."

Among the judoists, Diera Keldierova told about the created conditions for girls, and Davlat Bobonov and Muzaffarbek Turaboev noted the attention paid by the state and the fact that this motivates judoists very much. At the end of the event, Azizjon Kamilov presented gifts to the representative of the Uzbek national judo team, Bekmirod Oltiboev, who is celebrating his 25th anniversary today.her time is in the zone of the permit of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic rating (+ 100 kilograms).
