The shortcomings and problems of sports journalism were discussed

Today, an event on the topic “Media coverage of preparations for international competitions" was held in the NOC meeting room: the current state and prospects”. General Secretary of the NOC Oybek Kasimov, Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan Olim Usarov, head of the Council of Sports Journalists of Uzbekistan at the Union, well-known journalist Mirzakhakim Tukhtamirzayev, press secretary of the Chairman of the NOC, adviser on information policy Zafar Imomkhodzhayev, director of the TV channel “Sport” Zohid Karimov, as well as journalists and bloggers working in this direction, press secretaries of sports Federations.

At the beginning of the meeting, Oybek Kasimov expressed his opinion on this topic and focused on the importance of the meeting.

"It is very important to gather sports journalists on one platform and hold such an event. It is useful for us to identify the problems and shortcomings we face and find a joint solution to them. It is very important that media staff cover major sporting events together with our delegation. If there were 4 journalists in our team at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, then at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics we worked with 10 media representatives. We hope that in the future our cooperation in this direction will expand even more, and we will fully participate in the coverage of major complex tournaments”" Oybek Kasimov said.

During the meeting, Olim Usarov, Mirzakhakim Tokhtamirzayev, Zohid Karimov, representative of the press service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports Otabek Eshmamatov, sports journalist Kamoliddin Alimov expressed their opinions on the shortcomings and problems in this area. Kamoliddin Ergashev, Director of the International Relations Department of the NOC, also informed about the criteria for media accreditation at major sports competitions.

During the event, proposals were put forward for the resumption of the Council's activities, its membership in the International Association of Sports Journalists, the creation of facilities and additional opportunities in the process of accreditation of Uzbek journalists at major competitions. In addition, it was decided to hold a constituent assembly of the Council at the end of this year, in the third decade of December, electing a new leadership at it.

At the last meeting, full of interesting moments, a heated discussion was held on the issues of increasing the contribution of the private sector to the coverage of sports events, the formation of a dictionary of sports terms.
