Vladimir Nazlimov: "Our goal is only a gold medal!”
As we reported earlier, on November 20-21, Tashkent will host the next stage of the Sabre Fencing World Cup among young people. Today, the NOC held a press conference before these competitions.
The event was also attended by Secretary General of the Fencing Federation of Uzbekistan Gulnara Saidova, coaches, winners of the World Youth Sword Cup held on November 12-14 in Costa Rica (our team won 2 gold, 1 silver and bronze medals). First, our skewers and their mentors shared their impressions of the recent competitions.
“We have one goal. This tournament will serve as a preparation for the upcoming Asian and World Youth Championships, which await us at the beginning of next year. After winning the World Cup, we rose to second place in the world ranking among Asian countries. Our girls coped with the tasks perfectly," said the Venezuelan coach of our team, Jose Benavides.
Before the start of the international sabre tournament, which will be held at the sports complex of the Singapore Institute of Management Development, the coach of our team, 3-time Olympic champion Vladimir Nazlimov shared his impressions.
“Holding major competitions in Tashkent is very important for tomorrow's results. The infrastructure used in them will serve the future development of this sports discipline among the representatives of the younger generation. There are many talented young people in the country. Zainab Dayibekova, Sherzod Mamutov and other famous athletes are an example of a strong selection carried out on the example of Karakalpakstan. What are we planning for the upcoming tournament? Only a gold medal! Both in the individual and in the team direction, we will work only for a high result”" the coach said.
