Belgrade-2021: Cuba regained the championship in the team competition
The World Boxing Championship has ended in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. According to the results of interesting and uncompromising competitions, the Cuban team took first place.
3 athletes of this team won tickets to the finals. All of them won, and this played a decisive role in the fact that Cuba became the leader of the world ranking. It is appropriate to recall one quote from the President of the Cuban Boxing Federation, Alberto Puig, at a press conference after the joint gathering of the boxing teams of Uzbekistan and Cuba, held in Tashkent before the world championship: “The squad that can win 3 gold medals at the upcoming competitions is likely to become the leader in the team competition.” Indeed, this team, which has risen to the highest step of the podium three times, eventually took the first place.
The second place went to Kazakhstan, which won 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals, the third place went to the USA, which won 2 gold and silver awards. With the silver medal of Abdumalik Khalakov and the bronze of Madiyar Saidrakhimov, our team completed the tournament, entering the top 10.
After the program of the last day of the competition, an award ceremony was held in the weight category up to 92 kg. In it, our compatriot Madiyar Saidrakhimov also rose to the third step of the podium.
