Today, under the leadership of MOQ Chairman Rustam Shoabdurakhmonov, an operational online meeting was held to further expand the presence of participants of the Summer Olympic Games and other competitions in Hangzhou-2022 in Asia and Paris-2024, to prepare for other major international competitions to be held this year, as well as to prevent the spread of a new strain of Omicron coronavirus. It was also attended by the Secretary General of the NOC Oybek Kasimov, Adviser to the Chairman of the committee Alisher Karimov, Director of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Sports Medicine Abdushukur Sadikov, as well as responsible officials of the federation and associations.
It is worth noting that the reason for the spread of coronavirus infection is that in 2021 we are waiting for big starts, such as the Asian Games, Islamic Games, Youth Games, martial Arts and Asian Closed-type Games, as a number of competitions scheduled to be held in 2022 are postponed to next year. Therefore, according to the calendar, from now on it is required to form the composition of our national teams. In this regard, the head of the NOC gave a detailed explanation to the participants of the meeting.
"It is necessary to discuss plans to prepare for major competitions with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, higher schools of sportsmanship and start practical work on this. An important upcoming year awaits us. So it is necessary to discuss all this in detail. We will also develop separate plans for other international competitions. A foreign tournament will simply leave, and it will be inappropriate to participate in it. We have to work by setting a clear goal in advance and doing it. Our president supports us in every way. Therefore, there will be a demand for it. Under the leadership of the head of our state, we are building a new Uzbekistan. He will not just enter an international competition. Unfortunately, a new strain of coronavirus is emerging. In such conditions, only iron discipline can be overcome. Let's take all measures to maintain the health of our athletes at sports bases," Rustam Shoabdurakhmonov said.
During the online meeting, the director of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Sports Medicine Abdushukur Sadikov at the NOC shared his plans to prevent the spread of a new strain of coronavirus, to protect representatives of our national teams from it, and to take all necessary measures in this regard.
At the meeting, Oybek Kasimov gave his recommendations on preparing for major competitions based on his many years of experience. Also during the conversation, the first place of the chairman of the Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan Shakhrullo Mahmudova, the Secretary General of the Fencing Federation of Uzbekistan Gulnora Saidova, the Secretary General of the Cycling Federation of Uzbekistan Kozim Surinboykhudzhayev expressed their opinions on the detailed consideration of the item of contracts concluded with foreign coaches to attract to the national team.
In the end, the head of the NOC called on the federation officials to actively participate together with their families, athletes in the Green Space project implemented by our government.
