Plans for further professional development of our sports doctors were discussed

Today, the plans of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Sports Medicine (RSTIAM) under the Committee for Preparation for the Asian Games-2022 in Hangzhou and the Olympic Games-2024 in Paris were discussed in the conference hall of the NOC.

It was attended by the Chairman of the NOC Rustam Shoabdurakhmanov and the Secretary General of the Committee Oybek Kasimov, doctors and employees of the RSTIAM headed by Abdushukur Sadykov. At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the NOC expressed his opinion about how important this area is in the light of our achievements, as well as about some shortcomings.

“The goal of all of us is the further development of medicine in our sport. Our president did not spare his great help in opening, financing, such staff units as nutritionists, psychologists, massage therapists in our teams during the preparation for Tokyo 2020, and supported this issue. In our achievements, it is appropriate to note the help of our doctors. With their behavior, none of our athletes gave a positive result in a coronavirus test during the Olympics. But we also have disadvantages. Some of our athletes were unable to take part in the race due to weight loss problems. It is necessary to work on these and all other problems, apply new techniques”" the chairman of the NOC said.

At the meeting, Abdushukur Sadikov also focused on the shortcomings in the field and plans to eliminate them.

“There was a shortage of specialists in some of our main federations that were preparing for the Olympics. We also analyzed our shortcomings after the Olympics. At the same time, there were such problems as insufficient international experience, the inability to fully use the capabilities of our center, the disproportionate opinions of doctors and coaches in some national teams,” said the director of the RSTIAM.

Speaking about the center's plans for the new Olympic cycle, Abdushukur Sadykov focused on such priority goals as sending our doctors to such developed countries of sports medicine as Russia, Great Britain, USA, Poland, exchange of experience, organization of international training seminars in Tashkent.
