An online meeting was held on the topic of further strengthening the system of training the Olympic reserve
Under the leadership of the chairman of the NOC, Rustam Shoabdurakhmonov, an online meeting was held on the topic of further strengthening the system of training the Olympic reserve. The meeting, held through the ZOOM platform, was attended by the General Secretary of the Committee Aibek Kasimov, responsible heads of federations and associations for sports.
At the beginning of the event, Rustam Shoabdurakhmonov noted how relevant the issue of training athletes of a strong reserve is, and also studied the opinion of responsible persons about what needs to be done in this direction. During the meeting, the leadership of the tennis, rugby, handball federation and a number of other federations expressed their proposals on this topic.
On August 13, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, receiving the delegation of Uzbekistan taking part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo-2020, outlined a number of tasks for preparing for the Olympic Games in Paris-2024. Among them, the task was set to get a ticket to the Olympic Games in team sports.
It is worth noting that in educational institutions specializing in sports, the quotas allocated to team areas are small. During the meeting, these and other issues were discussed in detail, including the proposal to increase the number of quotas for team competitions at the Olympic Reserve College, the University of Physical Culture and Sports, the system of admission and training of athletes, an increase in the number of strong clubs competitive at national championships.
Also, one of the topical topics of the day was the issue of forming teams to participate in the Asian Youth Games Tashkent-2025. At the end of the event, the head of the IOC noted that the proposals of the federations will be considered on the issues on the agenda.
