"They will defend the honor of the country in Tokyo": Gulnoza Matniyazova, who will become the first Uzbek judoka to take part in two Olympic Games

Gulnoza Matniazova was born in 1994 in the Khorezm region.

The judoka was already a representative of the National Team of Uzbekistan at the age of 16 and took part in major competitions. She achieved her first success in 2012, at the Grand Prix tournament in Baku, where she won bronze. Then Matniyazova never rose to the podium of tournaments from the "Grand Slam" series, as well as many prestigious competitions.

In 2016 and 2017, she won gold medals at the Tashkent Grand Prix, and thanks to this result, she became the first Uzbek judoka who managed to win success at IJF tournaments. In addition, Matniyazova is the first Uzbek representative of judo, who managed to climb the podium of the "Grand Slam". Participant of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

She has won 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals at the Asian Championships, 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals at the Grand Prix tournaments, as well as 2 bronze medals at the Grand Slam.

According to the results of the rating announced by the International Judo Federation, she was awarded a license for the Tokyo Olympics.
