International Olympic Day and Youth Day greeted thousands of sports fans
A mass race at a high level was held throughout of Uzbekistan dedicated to the celebrations of Olympic Day and Youth Day on June 25 in 16 cities of the country.
The Opening ceremony was attended by the heads of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan. A speech by the President of the IOC Mr. Thomas Bach was used to congratulate participants and fans on the Olympic Day celebration.
In addition to domestic supporters of a healthy lifestyle, athletes from neighborhood countries such as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as representatives of the Diplomatic corps operating in our country, took part in this event. The Olympic Day was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports, the National Olympic Committee OF Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Mayors of all cities and regions.
More than 60 thousand participants throughout the Republic attended Olympic Day. Among them, youth, athletes, sports fans etc. The general partner of the competition Uzbneftegaz JSC assisted in the organizational and technical matters with Athletics federation of Uzbekistan.
Olympic Day Run was held in Fergana, Namangan, Bukhara, Samarkand and Nukus cities at a distance of 1 mile and 3 km distance was organized in Andijan, Gulistan, Nurafshon, Dzhizak, Termez, Navoi, Karaulbazar, Karshi, Urgench and Guzarantzian. Celebrations in the capital, Tashkent city carried out at distances of 1 mile, 3 km and 10 km. The motto of the event hashtag #letsmove ("let’s move") aimed to encourage youth to participate in sports activities.
