The Winter Olympic Games are just around the corner
The XXIV Winter Olympic Games will be held in Beijing on February 4-20, the Paralympic Games on March 4-13. The capital of China was chosen as the venue for the Olympics at the IOC session in Kuala Lumpur on July 31, 2015. Beijing will be the first city to host both the Summer and winter Games. Recall that the Summer Olympics were held in the capital of China in 2008. According to the organizing committee's plan, the competitions will be held in 3 regions: Beijing and its environs, Yangqing and Zhangjiakou. First of all, it is appropriate to mention that opening and closing ceremonies, ice hockey, figure skating, short track, curling and speed skating competitions are planned in this capital. The guests of the Opening and closing ceremonies will be hosted by the "National Stadium", built for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Ice hockey. The competitions will be held at the Beijing State Sports Palace and Lesports Center arenas.
"Beijing State Sports Palace". It was in this arena at the 2008 Olympics that our compatriots Ekaterina Khilko and Anton Fokin entered the history of Uzbek sports as prize-winners of the main starts of the quadrennial. Hockey matches of the Winter Olympic Games will be held in this complex next year.
Lesports Center. The arena, which hosted basketball matches at the Olympics 13 years ago, will host hockey meetings this year. The facility can accommodate 14 thousand spectators.
"Capital Sports Palace". Lovers of elegance and speed on the ice will be found here in February next year. The arena will host figure skating and short track competitions during the Olympics.
"Beijing National Water Sports Complex". We witnessed how 25 world records were set on the walls of the arena with modern architecture at the 2008 swimming competitions. Also in this complex, Michael Phelps entered the history of mankind as an athlete who won 8 gold medals at one Olympics. Olympic curling champions will be determined here.
The National Skating Stadium is an indoor skating stadium in Beijing, where speed skating competitions will be held during the 2022 Olympics. A standard 400-meter oval skating stadium with two tracks. 6800 seats for spectators, together with 12,000 temporary seats.
The games themselves in Beijing coincide in time with the Chinese New Year — the main holiday in the country.
