The first winners were determined at the home World Championship
As we reported earlier, the World Sambo Championship started today in our capital. Our compatriots won three medals on the opening competitive day of the world Championship.
After the end of the day's competitions, in accordance with the program, the grand opening of the World Championship took place. It was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov, Chairman of the NOC Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov and Secretary General of the Committee Oybek Kasimov, President of the International Sambo Federation Vasily Shestakov, Head of the Asian Sambo Association Alamjon Mullaev, Chairman of the Sambo Association of Uzbekistan Alisher Alimov.
The speakers at the opening ceremony emphasized the enormous attention paid by the President of our country to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among the population, support for sports. Vasily Shestakov, in turn, also expressed warm words on this occasion, noting that the prestigious tournament is organized at a high level.
At the end of the solemn event, the start of the final matches was given. It is worth noting that at this stage, the honor of the country was also defended by our compatriots who fought for the championship title in 2021. In an uncompromising fight in the weight category up to 50 kg Sabina Davlatova lost to Anfisa Kapayeva from Belarus, in the category up to 59 kg Ibodathon Agadzhanova defeated a rival from Costa Rica in a duel for the bronze medal. Hakimjon Ismailov, who competed in the weight over 98 kg, also recorded another bronze medal in the asset of the Uzbek national team.
