Doston Yakubov: " this is still the beginning. I present new victories to our new Uzbekistan”
Our weightlifter saga Yakubov became the hero of the day today. Returning to the big sport after the 2-year break, our wrestler became the world champion in the weight category of -67 kg. Our champion shared his thoughts after the competition.
“First of all, I would like to thank the president, the Ministry of Tourism and sports, the National Olympiad, the trade union federation, the fans and my family who have come to support this arena. With their application, I won such a victory. My coaches worked tirelessly with me on my shortcomings in training camps, and now we are seeing its result. This is still the beginning. In the future, with great victories in this country, I will present new victories to our new Uzbekistan,” said Doston Yakubov.
Adhamjon Ergashev, who also won a small bronze medal in the competitions, expressed his satisfaction with today's participation:
"It was my first start after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Even if I expected a bigger result, I was disappointed with my overall participation. Another thing I would like to say separately is that our fans who came to the arena were able to offer us simply a wonderful atmosphere. Previously, I did not get such a big impression from competitions. I thank them for supporting us in such a uplifting spirit."
