Gymnastics and Table Tennis Federations in the spotlight

Meetings are continuing in which the goals and objectives of the Federations are discussed and considered under the Presidential decree "On the comprehensive preparation of athletes of Uzbekistan for the XXXIII Summer Olympic and XVII Paralympic Games held in Paris (France) in 2024". Today, a meeting was held with the Gymnastics and Table Tennis Federations of Uzbekistan.

In the morning, the chairman of the NOC Rustam Shaabdurakhmonov and his deputy Sherzod Tashmatov met with representatives of the Gymnastics Federation headed by Ruslan Mustayev.

At the beginning of the meeting, the first deputy chairman of the Gymnastics Federation of Uzbekistan Ruslan Mustayev gave a report on the past cycle of Tokyo 2020. According to him, due to the fact that during the pandemic, the gymnasium in the capital turned into a temporary hospital for compatriots infected with coronavirus, athletes were left without a main training hall, and therefore training was insufficient for effective performances at competitions. The management of the NOC informed that in the future a hall will be attached where the main team will train regularly in order to adequately represent our country on the international sports arena.

Then the head of the NOC talked with representatives of each type of gymnastic disciplines, their coaches. We discussed the goals and objectives for the future.

In the afternoon, Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov met with representatives of the Table Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan. It is worth saying that the meeting did not go as expected. Despite the fact that the coach of the national team Georgy Tsoi and his wards were on the list of invitees, due to internal disagreements of the Federation, they did not attend this meeting. In this regard, discussions were held with the director of the Republican School of Higher Sports Skills in Sports Games Jasur Akramov, the Secretary General of the Federation, the Executive Director and other specialists.

Unfortunately, due to such internal conflicts in recent years, we cannot see significant results in this sport in the international arena. In particular, the license for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was not won. Preparations for Paris 2024 will be organized according to a completely different strategy. One of the important aspects will be that each athlete will be engaged on the basis of a contract concluded with the NOC. And this, in turn, suggests that these athletes will have a huge responsibility. So that each of them feels the seriousness of the results they achieve.

During the long conversation, the main focus was on sending our athletes applying for a license to Europe to exchange experience in foreign clubs, and their comprehensive support. The head of the NOC had to talk on this topic with the only athlete who came to the meeting-Sogdiana Madalieva.
