Ilias Iliadis: "We train at least 2 judoists in each weight in the licensed zone”
The NOC continues analytical meetings on the participation of our athletes in the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. As I have already reported, in the first half of the day, the leadership of the Committee held a discussion with the officials of our wrestling team. After that, an analysis of the performance of our judoists was carried out. It was attended by coaches of the national team Ilias Iliadis and Nelya Kiyamova, as well as representatives of the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan.
The participation of our judoists in each weight category was considered at the meeting. The speech of a number of our representatives provoked critical comments. The personal opinions of the coaches on this issue were also studied separately.
“The athletic form of our judoists was at a high level. But in some situations, our psychological shortcomings were noticed. We are faced with such a situation that the situation no longer depends on us. Now we approach the preparations for Paris in a different way. We train at least 2 judoists who are in the licensed zone in each weight. We have enough internal potential for this. Only if the competition is very strong, we will achieve an excellent result”" Ilias Iliadis said.
During the conversation, the coaching staff noted that following the results of the national championship this year, it is planned to select the squad that will prepare for the new Olympic cycle. It is reported that all representatives of our national team, except Davlat Bobonov, will take part in it.
