Updated Law “On Physical Culture and Sport” Approved
At a plenary session of the Senate, a revised version of the Law “On Physical Culture and Sport” was reviewed and approved. The Law clearly defines the key directions of state policy in the field of physical culture and sport, as well as measures of government support for their development.
The Ministry of Sport, the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan are designated as subjects of physical culture and sport, with additional powers granted to them.
The Law also establishes provisions related to Paralympic, Deaflympic, Special Olympic sports and sports for persons with visual impairments. It regulates the legal status and operational procedures of sports federations, clubs, and leagues, as well as the criteria for their inclusion in or removal from the official registry.
In addition, new norms have been introduced regarding the prevention and fight against doping in sport, as well as counteracting illegal influence on the outcomes of sporting competitions.
Special emphasis is placed on encouraging public participation in mass sport and on the regular organization of large-scale sporting events. According to senators, this Law will contribute to the further development of the sector and to a more systematic organization of relations in the field of physical culture and sport.
The Senate approved the Law.
