Ahead of the Asian Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championships, which will begin in the capital tomorrow, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) was held. It was attended by International Weightlifting Federation President Muhammad Jalud, AWF President Muhammad Yusef Al Mana, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov, Deputy Minister of Sports and First Deputy Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation Shahrullo Mahmudov, and NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov.

The meeting discussed preparations for the Asian Games to be held in Japan this year, the preparations for the Asian Martial Arts and Indoor Games to be hosted by Saudi Arabia, and preparations for the Asian Championships to be held in the Republic of Korea next year. The officials also noted that Uzbekistan had made thorough preparations to host the Asian Youth & Junior Championships.

As part of the event, AWF President Muhammad Yusef Al Mana was presented with the Physical Education and Sports Excellence badge for his contribution to the development of weightlifting in Uzbekistan.
