Excellent news from the U17 World Wrestling Championships taking place in Athens — a historic day for Team Uzbekistan, as our athlete has won a gold medal for the first time in the women’s division.

This remarkable achievement was earned by Shohista Shonazarova, competing in the up to 40 kg weight category. She defeated her German opponent in the quarterfinal, then shut out her American rival in the semifinal without conceding a single point. In the final, the Uzbek wrestler claimed a dominant 11–0 victory over her Japanese opponent.
