Tashkent marked International Olympic Day with a high-level celebration
In our country, International Olympic Day is celebrated every year on a large scale, and this year it was also held in a festive atmosphere. The event took place at the Republican Centre for Training in Olympic and Paralympic Sports, located in the capital, where reserve athletes for the national teams are trained.
The celebration was attended by officials from the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees, the leadership of “LUKOIL Uzbekistan Operating Company”, Uzbek sports stars, representatives of federations and associations, young athletes, and media staff.
At the solemn opening ceremony, the officials highlighted the historical significance of International Olympic Day, its role in global sport, as well as the large-scale reforms being carried out in our country under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to develop the Olympic Movement. It was emphasized that Olympic ideas are a powerful force promoting peace, friendship and solidarity.
This year’s celebration was organized in cooperation with “LUKOIL Uzbekistan Operating Company.” In support of the Olympic Movement in the country, the company presented modern wrestling mats — fully compliant with United World Wrestling (UWW) standards — to a number of sports schools in the capital.
Young athletes presented demonstration performances in football, badminton, archery, table tennis, judo, Uzbek jang sanati, kurash, taekwondo, fencing and 3x3 basketball. Visitors had the opportunity to personally try out various sports disciplines and gain a deeper understanding of their unique features.
The celebration of Olympic Day concluded with a concert. The musical performances gave the event an even more festive atmosphere and left a lasting impression on the guests.
