"They will defend the honor of the country in Tokyo": judoka Mukhammadkarim Khurramov, who followed in the footsteps of his grandfather

Khurramov Mukhammadkarim Shokirzhonovich was born on April 4, 1997 in Surkhandarya region. A pupil of the Samarkand judo school. His father, Shokirjon Khurramov, taught him the secrets of judo. Then he trained under the guidance of Uktam Rakhmonov in Samarkand.

Khurramov was born in a family of wrestlers. His grandfather Muhammadkarim was also a famous wrestler of Surkhandarya. The judoka was named after his grandfather. At the beginning of his career, Khurramov competed in the -90 kg weight category. Since 2016, he began to achieve success. In the same year, he took third place in the Tashkent Grand Prix, and at the Asian Youth Championship he was awarded gold. Since 2018, he has moved to the weight category -100 kilograms.

In 2019, he won Grand Prix medals in Tbilisi and Marrakech, at the Asian Championships and the Summer Universiade. In February 2020, at the Grand Slam tournament in Dusseldorf, he became a gold medalist. This year he took the second place at the Asian Championship in Bishkek.

According to the results of the announced rating by the International Judo Federation, he was awarded the Tokyo 2020 license.
