We continue the project "They will defend the honor of the country in Tokyo". Today our hero is the finalist of the World Judo Championship — Davlat Bobonov.
Davlat Khusniddinovich Bobonov was born on June 7, 1997 in Navoi. The first coach is Nurali Kobulov. Tokyo 2020 is being prepared for the Olympic Games under the leadership of Ilias Iliadis.
Since 2015, he has been worthily defending the honor of Uzbekistan at international competitions. Until 2018, he competed in the -81 kg weight category, won the Tashkent Grand Prix in 2016 and the Asian Youth Championship. In the 2017 World Championship in Budapest, he took seventh place.
Since 2018, he has moved to the -90 kg weight category. It took him about 2 years to fully adapt to this weight. Since the second half of 2019, he began to achieve success. In the same year, at the Grand Slam tournament in Osaka, he managed to win a silver medal. After this competition, he became one of the leading judoists in his weight category.
In the Dusseldorf "Grand Slam" of 2020, he won. For his success at prestigious competitions, he was recognized as the best athlete of Uzbekistan in 2020.
At the 2021 Grand Slam tournament in Tashkent, he became a silver medalist. Then he won the Asian Championship in Bishkek. A month ago, at the World Championships in Budapest, he won a silver medal.
According to the results of the announced rating by the International Judo Federation, he took the fifth place and was awarded a license for Tokyo 2020 in the -90 kg weight category.
