One of the outstanding sports figures of Uzbekistan, who contributed to the development of the Olympic movement in the country, Roman Itskov, has left this world.
Roman Isayevich Itskov was born on August 23, 1938 in Ukraine. After some time, he moved to Tashkent. After graduating from the State Institute of Physical Culture, he worked at the same educational institution for a long time. Then, he successfully continued his activities in the State Sports Committee of the UZSSR as the manager of the department of propaganda of Olympic and Mass sports. In 1997-2013, he worked in the system of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan on the promotion of the Olympic Movement and maintained contact with sports federations.
From 2013 to 2015, he served as an adviser to the Chairman of the NOC. As part of the delegation of Uzbekistan, he participated in the Asian and Olympic Games, and also made a worthy contribution to the development of Uzbek sports.
For his services, he was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the order "Soglom Avlod Uchun" (2nd degree).
