General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan has been held
Today, the 41st General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan was held. The event was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov; Head of the Department of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Odil Abdurakhmanov; Minister of Sports, Adham Ikramov; Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Otabek Umarov; members of the General Assembly, as well as officials of National federations and associations. During the assembly, the leadership structure of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan was reformed.
Oybek Kasimov, the Secretary General of the NOC Uzbekistan, led the event and emphasized that the leadership structure of the NOC Uzbekistan is reorganized in each Olympic cycle according to the NOC Charter. It should be noted that on May 23, 2022, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan assigned Minister of Sports Adham Ikramov the responsibility of coordinating the activities of the National Olympic Committee. Therefore, at the beginning of the General Assembly, Adham Ikramov gave a report on the work done during the Olympic cycle.
The Prime Minister highlighted the achievements made, while also critically noting the untapped potential and the federations that failed to meet expectations.
After that, other issues on the agenda were discussed. Firstly, a new leader was elected to the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan. Speaking about the candidate for this position, Abdulla Aripov nominated the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan HE Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, taking into account the need for thorough preparation for the Los Angeles-2028 Summer Olympics,
as well as the request of thousands of Olympic families, athletes and coaches.
The candidate was unanimously approved by all delegates and Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev was elected as the President of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.
Additionally, the Vice Presidents and Secretary General of the NOC were also elected. In line with the decisions, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Otabek Umarov, was newly elected as the First Vice President of the NOC; Oybek Kasimov was re-elected as a Secretary General; and Sherzod Tashmatov was re-elected as a Vice President. During the event, the updated Charter of the NOC was also approved. With this, the 41st General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee concluded its proceedings.
