Akbar Juraev was born on October 8, 1999 in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region. It should be noted that many talented athletes of our national team were born in this region. In particular, Akbar himself followed in the footsteps of his brother Aziz Juraev, who is the Asian champion in weightlifting among juniors. The first coach of Akbar Juraev is Farkhod Mirzazhonov. Now, under the leadership of Bahrom Mendiboev, he is preparing for the Tokyo Olympics.
Juraev achieved his first success in the international arena in 2018. Then he managed to win the gold medal of the continental championship among young people. In the same year, at the U20 World Championship in Tashkent, he was awarded silver. And at the end of the year, he won the fourth place in the world championship among adults.
In 2019, at the World Youth Championship in Fiji, he became a gold medalist. Further, in the world championship among adults in Thailand, he became the second according to the results of the push and the fourth according to the results of the two-man event.
At the Asian Championship of 2021 in Tashkent, Juraev competed with an experienced weightlifter Ruslan Nurudinov and won a silver medal, missing the chance to the Olympic champion with a difference of 1 kg.
According to the results of the rating of the International Weightlifting Federation, which was announced this month, he won a place in Tokyo 2020.
