We continue to update the story: for the first time, our judoists will compete for 11 Olympic medals
The International Judo Federation has announced the final ranking of Tokyo 2020. It is noteworthy that according to the results of the rating, our national team will compete for medals in 10 weight categories and the mixed team direction at the upcoming Games.
Of course, this is a new page in the history of judo in Uzbekistan. So far, the maximum number of our judoists at the Olympics has reached 8 (Beijing-2008: 6 men and 2 women; Rio-2016: 7 men and 1 woman). In Tokyo-2020, 7 men and 3 women will compete on behalf of Uzbekistan, as well as our judoists will fight in the team-mixed. Thus, thanks to the introduction of a new system by the leadership of the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan and the effective work of the coaching staff, 3 of our girls will perform at the Olympic Games for the first time, in addition, the national team has won a chance to perform in the team-mixed direction. A few days ago, at the World Championships, our representatives for the first time rose to the podium in the team-mix. It should be noted that only 12 of the strongest teams in the world were awarded a license in this direction. Given this fact, it can be concluded that Uzbek judoists will be the main contenders for the Tokyo 2020 medals. And so, according to the results of the IJF rating, the following judoists have a chance to take part in the Tokyo Olympics:
Men:
-60 kg: Sharofiddin Lutfillaev (8, position in the rating) or Dierbach of urozboev (27)
-66 kg: Sardor Nurillaev (10)
-73 kg: Hikmatullah Turaev (10)
-81 kg: Sharofiddin Boltaboev (7)
-90 kg: Davlat of Bobonov (5)
-100 kg: Muhamatkarim of Hurramov (14)
+100 kg: Bekmurod of Aliboev (21)
Women:
-52 kg: Diera Keldierova (12)
-63 kg: Farangiz Khozhieva (64, continental quota)
-70 kg: Gulnoza Matniazova (23)
Note: in the -60 kg weight category, two of our judoists are in the rating zone. After the decision of the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan and the coaching staff, the name of the participant of the Olympiad will be known.
The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan congratulates the judo family on another historic result and sincerely wishes them success in Tokyo 2020.
