Our taekwondo athletes showed their best result at the Asian Championship in the entire history of independent Uzbekistan!

The Asian Taekwondo Championship WT ended today in Lebanon. The national team of Uzbekistan managed to win 10 medals in this competition.

As part of today, two Uzbek taekwondo athletes — Nikita Rafalovich (-80 kg) and Niyaz Pulatov (-63 kg) came to dayan. Rafalovich missed an opportunity in the semifinals, losing to the representative of Chinese Taipei and was awarded bronze.

And Pulatov had a decisive fight against Zaid Alkhalavani from Jordan. As a result, our taekwondo athlete managed to defeat the opponent and win the gold medal. Thus, the national team of Uzbekistan finished the Asian Championship with 10 medals (3 gold, 1 silver and 6 bronze). This result was a historic one for the national team, as our representatives set their best record. It should be noted that such leaders of the national team as Ulugbek Rashitov, Svetlana Osipova, Nigora Tursunkulova did not take part in the tournament. Currently, all their attention is focused on preparing for the Tokyo Olympics. If these taekwondo athletes had come to dayan, then perhaps the national team of Uzbekistan could have achieved even greater success.

Another noteworthy thing is that our compatriot Shokhsanam Azamova was recognized as the "Best Taekwondo player" of the championship among girls. Now, on June 20, the national team of Uzbekistan will take part in another international competition — "Beirut Open".
