Uzbekistan National boxing team

My young friends, brave and courageous heroes of our country!

You adequately defended the honor of our Motherland at the Asian Boxing Championship, held on May 24-31 this year in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and once again vividly demonstrated what great achievements the brave and purposeful youth of Uzbekistan, full of energy and determination, is capable of.

Speaking about your remarkable victory, it should be noted that it is behind the great attention that has been paid in recent years in our country to the development of physical culture and sports.

Thanks to such close attention, our young people are increasingly interested and eager to master all kinds of sports, especially boxing.

Undoubtedly, an important role in this is played by the great successes achieved by you, worthy representatives of the Uzbek boxing school, which has its own glorious traditions.

We all remember with pride how five years ago at the XXXI Summer Olympic Games in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, it was thanks to their high professionalism and unwavering will that the masters of the leather glove of Uzbekistan rose to the podium together with the strongest and leading boxing teams of the world.

It is noteworthy that in recent years you have further strengthened your positions and continued the victorious march, leaving behind your rivals at the three Asian championships, the Asian Games and the World Championship held in 2019 in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, where you won first place in the team competition.

As you know, in order to strengthen the glory of Uzbek boxing on a global scale, to further popularize this sport among young people, a special resolution was recently adopted.

It defines the necessary measures for the further development of the Uzbek boxing school, which has almost a century-old history and rich traditions, to strengthen its leading positions in world sports, to ensure the education of new Asian and world champions and Olympic winners among our youth.

In this regard, it should be noted that women's sports, including women's boxing, are also consistently developing in our country. It is gratifying that our brave girls also actively participated in the Asian Championship, which became a victorious one for you, being worthy successors of such brave heroines as Tumaris and Barchina, they won 1 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals.

We are proud that at the recent world Youth Championship, the Uzbek girl Nigina Uktamova was awarded the high title of world champion among women for the first time in the history of our country.

I am convinced that this is just the beginning. Undoubtedly, in the future, our girls will be able to surprise and delight the fans of world boxing with their high achievements and victories more than once.

Dear athletes, my brave sons and daughters!

Your grandiose victory at the Asian Championship has become a worthy gift for the greatest, most expensive holiday – the 30th anniversary of the independence of our Motherland.

With your victory, you have inspired our people, given them joy and a festive mood.

Such successes are based on the tireless, painstaking work of experienced coaches and employees of the federation, the great and priceless legacy left by sports veterans, the support and blessing of the people and respected parents.

May luck and the same wonderful victories await you at the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo!

I wish you health, strength, energy, new achievements on the way to your cherished goals, so that the flag of our Motherland flies high above the world sports arenas, glorifying it to the whole world.

I congratulate all of you on a bright and big victory!

Shavkat Mirziyoyev,

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
