"They will defend the honor of Uzbekistan in Tokyo": 22-year-old Nigora Tursunkulova, who is preparing for the second Olympics
Today's heroine of our project "They will defend the honor of Uzbekistan in Tokyo" is a young and talented representative of the Uzbek national taekwondo team WT Nigora Tursunkulova.
Tursunkulova Nigora Akmalovna was born on April 4, 1999 in Jizzakh. Following her brothers, she started practicing taekwondo and is now one of the leading taekwondo athletes of the national team. The first mentor is Dmitry Khvan, who is still training Tursunkulova.
In 2012, she became a member of the national team of cadets of Uzbekistan, then youth and adult. One of the important achievements in her activity was her participation in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. At the age of 17, she managed to take part in the Rio Olympics and she was the youngest representative of the delegation of Uzbekistan. In Rio 2016, she was able to reach the quarterfinals.
In 2017, she became a bronze medalist at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku. She was awarded gold at the 2018 Asian Championships, and bronze at the Asian Games in Indonesia. In 2019, she won a silver medal at the World Military Games.
In addition to sports, Nigora Tursunkulova actively manifests herself in the social life of the country. She was awarded the state award "Zulfiya" and the badge "Uzbekistan Belgisi".
At the 2021 license competition in Amman (Jordan) Nigora Tursunkulova in the weight category -67 kg won a license for the Tokyo Olympics.
