Officials of the NOC and representatives of the Gymnastics Federation of Uzbekistan are looking for a solution to an urgent problem
The impact of coronavirus infection on the health and life of people does not bypass the sports sphere. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Gymnastics Palace, located in the Yunusabad district of the capital, has been used to treat our compatriots suffering from this disease. And therefore, the search for an alternative facility with all the conditions for our gymnasts has again become an urgent issue. Today, NOC officials, together with representatives of the Gymnastics Federation of Uzbekistan headed by Ruslan Mustayev and the Republican School of Higher Sports Skills in Gymnastics, exchanged views on this issue.
It is worth noting that, despite the difficult conditions in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Cycle, all the necessary conditions were created for the training of our gymnasts. Our athletes have passed continuous international and local training camps. This was recognized by the representatives of the Republican School of Higher Sports Skills in Gymnastics, the Gymnastics Federation of Uzbekistan and coaches who gathered during the meeting, expressing gratitude to the President and the state for this.
With the support of the Government, preparations for the most important start of the year, the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, are in full swing in all National teams today. However, due to the above-mentioned issues at the meeting, the domestic gymnasts had some problems.
Also during today's meeting, other sports facilities of the capital, opportunities for our athletes to practice in them were discussed. The fact is that there are a number of nuances in gymnastics, there are requirements for the gym where training is held. In particular, in rhythmic gymnastics, the ceiling height should not be less than 16 meters.
During the conversation, attention was paid to the sports halls of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies and the Tashkent Financial Institute, the Yunusabad sports complex, as well as a number of other halls. If these gyms do not meet the standards, the option of building a special hall with a lightweight structure next to the gymnastics complex was also considered. In addition, there was a discussion on making proposals to the draft Cabinet of Ministers on raising the development of sports to a new level.
