Representatives of the Uzbekistan and Cuba boxing teams took part in a press conference before the World Cup
The men's World Boxing Championship will be held in Belgrade (Serbia) from October 25 to November 6. A press conference with boxers who will take part in the World Championship was held today in the conference hall of the head office of Orient Finance Bank.
The event was attended by Secretary General of the Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan Murod Mamadaliyev, head coach of the national team of Uzbekistan Marat Kurbanov, President of the Boxing Federation of Cuba Alberto Puig, head coach of the national team of Cuba Rolando Acebal, 13 members of the team of Uzbekistan, boxers of Cuba and coaches.
It should be noted that on August 13 of this year, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received our Olympians and instructed them to establish cooperation with the strongest schools, national teams and centers of the world in time for the meeting. It was not for nothing that Cuba was chosen to hold a joint gathering. Our boxers and 8 representatives of Cuba, among whom 4 are Olympic champions, were involved in the TCB. In accordance with the instruction of the head of our state, the Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan invited one of the strongest teams in the world in this sport. Thanks to the collection, we learned about the methodology and style of Cuban boxing, exchanged experiences. Thus, the winners of the last two Olympic Games trained together. For information, at the Rio 2016 Olympics, the Uzbek team became the first in the team competition, and in Tokyo 2020 - the Cuban team.
During the event, the head of the Cuban Boxing Federation emphasized mutual cooperation.
"We believe that the training camp with one of the best and strongest teams in the world will benefit us. I think that the fight for medals at the World Cup will be among 4 teams, among them there are Cuba and Uzbekistan. The team that manages to win three gold medals is likely to take first place in the team standings. If the Cuban national team succeeds at the World Cup, then Uzbekistan will also be credited with this, since the joint training camp with your national team has helped to increase experience. I express my gratitude to the Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan for this," said Alberto Puig.
Also, the head coach of the Uzbek national team, Marat Kurbanov, noted that our boxers were preparing hard for the World Cup and that they all achieved high athletic form, expressing gratitude to the government for the conditions created.
"When choosing boxers in the squad, we tried to combine the desire of young people and a lot of experience. We have attracted a lot of young boxers to participate in the World Cup. Our goal is to form a strong national team before the 2023 World Cup in Tashkent and the Paris 2024 Olympics. Therefore, you can see talented young people in the composition," Marat Galievich said.
Also, Murod Mamadaliyev expressed his opinion on this matter.
"The joint training camp was the last stage of preparation. The State has created all the necessary conditions. This training camp has been useful for our national team."
