The heroes of the World Sambo Championship returned to the capital
As you know, the World Junior and Youth Sambo Championships were held in Thessaloniki (Greece) on October 15-17. Today our sambo wrestlers, who successfully took part in this competition, returned to their homeland.
The event, which was held at the Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov, was attended by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports Avaz Karimov, Secretary General of the NOC Oybek Kassymov, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Sports of Uzbekistan Bahodir Mahsitov and the wider sports community. The athletes were greeted by a military band. After that, they walked along the red carpet, where they were applauded by those present.
The event continued at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Avaz Karimov and Oybek Kassymov took part in the ceremony and congratulated our sambo wrestlers on their victory. After that, the athletes were awarded certificates of monetary awards. Gold medalists received 10 million soums, silver — 5 million soums and bronze - 3 million soums.
We remind you that our sambo wrestlers in this world championship won 6 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze, taking second place in the team standings after Russia. Taking this opportunity, the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan congratulates the Sambo Association of Uzbekistan on such success.
