Cuba was left without Arlen Lopez, in what weight category will Andy Cruz compete?

The joint boxing training camp of the Cuban and Uzbek teams continues. After training, we had a short conversation with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, two-time World Championship winner Andy Cruz.

— In what weight category will you compete at the World Championships?
— I am preparing for the World Championship in the weight -63.5 kg.

- Many people thought that after the Olympics you would switch to -67 kg. Is it not difficult for you to lose weight?
— This is a very convenient weight category for me. In fact, I have almost the same weight. Therefore, I don't have to lose much weight.

- Tell us about your rivals in this weight category? What do you know about them?
— I can say that I don't have much information about them. Due to the change in weight categories, someone can gain weight, someone else can throw off. This is the World Championship, and of course the participants will also be strong. I can only say that I know guys who used to be in the same weight with me.

— Despite this, can you name someone?
- Unexpected results and new names are often observed in boxing. Come on, I won't talk about it. As I noted, every boxer is a strong opponent for me.

As the guests noted, the Cuban national team arrived in Uzbekistan with 8 boxers. Another 4 boxers are training in Havana and will immediately head to Belgrade. One of the famous representatives of the national team, two-time Olympic champion Arlen Lopez will not be able to take part in the World Cup due to family circumstances. No one will represent the Cuban national team in the -80 kg weight category, since the registration period for athletes has expired.
