Pavel Kan will lead the Uzbekistan national taekwondo WTF team

The Uzbekistan national taekwondo team WT will now be headed by Pavel Khan. This was stated during the meeting of the association dedicated to the results of Tokyo 2020 and new strategic plans.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the NOC Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports Avaz Karimov, Deputy Chairman of the NOC, Chairman of the Taekwondo Association WT Sherzod Tashmatov, Director of the Republican School of Higher Sportsmanship in Martial Arts Bahodir Mamatnazarov, representatives of the association and coaches.

First, the results of the association's activities before the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were summed up. Sherzod Tashmatov said that after the Olympics, the participation of athletes was thoroughly analyzed, after which the head coach of the national team was replaced. Now Pavel Khan will be the head coach, and Alexander Kim will be a consultant coach.

Sherzod Tashmatov and Pavel Khan spoke in detail about the strategy of preparing the national team for the Asian Games Hangzhou-2022 and the Olympic Games Paris-2024. According to the strategy, after the completion of the national championship, the composition of the national team will be reviewed once again, and 2 athletes will be trained in each Olympic weight category. It is also expected that a specialist from South Korea will be involved in the women's national team.

In addition to preparing for the upcoming complex competitions, plans were discussed at the presentation to further increase the popularity of this sport, including increasing the number of taekwondo practitioners in our country (more than 25 thousand), improving the material and technical base in the regions, through international competitions to increase the experience of not only athletes, but also coaches and judges.

For information, Pavel Afanasievich Khan was born in 1984 in Tashkent. He is the coach of Uzbekistan's first Olympic taekwondo champion Ulugbek Rashitov.
