The grave of Lina Cheryazova was landscaped and a monument was erected
The role of the legendary Lina Cheryazova in the history of sports of our motherland cannot be overestimated. The first champion of independent Uzbekistan at the Olympics died in 2019 after a serious illness. In accordance with the instruction of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to show high respect and reverence to our honored athletes, landscaping works were carried out at the cemetery where Cheryazova is buried.
Lina Cheryazova died in 2019 on March 23. A monument was erected to the champion of the Lillehammer-1994 Winter Olympics, buried by the Russian Federation, the city of Novosibirsk, the Kleshchinskoye cemetery. The event was attended by the NOC, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, officials of the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk. In addition to the date when Cheryazova's birthday and death were recorded, the monument also includes the definition of “The Olympic Games of Uzbekistan and the world champion in freestyle wrestling”.
For the first time, the national anthem of the state of Uzbekistan was played at the Winter Olympic Games in honor of this athlete who defended the honor of our country in the direction of free-style acrobatics. He also won the 1993 World Championship. For his services, he was awarded the Order of "Labor Glory", honorary titles ”An athlete serving the Republic of Uzbekistan“ and "The Pride of Uzbekistan".
