Akbar Juraev: It is a great honor to be awarded the honorary title "Uzbekistan Iftikhori"
A few days ago, a decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was issued "On awarding a group of athletes and coaches who achieved high results at the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo". Thanks to this Decree, the work of a number of representatives of the Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan was also noted. In particular, the winner and record holder of Tokyo 2020, Akbar Juraev, was awarded the honorary title "Uzbekistan Iftikhori". After the award ceremony, the weightlifter shared his impressions:
"I am very glad that our long-term work was adequately appreciated. This is not only my victory, but also the success of all our compatriots. I am deeply grateful to our Esteemed President for creating all the necessary conditions during the preparation for the Olympics. All our achievements are due to the attention paid to the development of sports. I am very glad that I managed to set an Olympic record. I want to say thank you to my mentors and coaches, as well as to everyone who supported and supported me.
It is a great honor to be awarded the honorary title "Uzbekistan Iftikhori". I am grateful to the Head of State for this. Such a reward will give me new strength and put a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. I will do my best to raise our flag at the next Olympics in Paris, as well as at the Asian and World Championships."
