Two of our wrestlers will take part in the World Youth Championship
In Ufa (Russia) The World Youth Wrestling Championship has started. Two athletes will take part in this competition on behalf of Uzbekistan: the champion of the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, the winner of the world junior championship Umidjon Zhalolov (-61 kg) and the medalist of the youth Olympic Games Mukhammadrasul Rakhimov (-92 kg).
More than 500 athletes from 53 countries of the world will compete at the championship, which takes place after a 729-day pause. This time, 120 sets of medals will be awarded. The previous World Cup was held in Tallinn (Estonia) in 2019. Due to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation, the world Championship was not held last year.
According to the results of the draw, 19-year-old Umidjon Zhalolov will start his participation from the 1/8 finals. The name of his opponent will be known after the fight between Salamat Malikov (Kazakhstan) and Abdulfaz Nasyrov (Azerbaijan). And 20-year-old Mukhammadrasul Rakhimov will take to the carpet in the 1/8 finals with 19-year-old Rocky Joseph Elam from the USA.
