Goodbye Tokyo, hello Paris!
So the XXXII Summer Olympic Games Tokyo-2020, which humanity has been waiting for 5 years, has come to an end. Along with representatives of 206 delegations, our compatriots also competed for medals.
During the competition, there were victories that we were happy about, but there were also bitter defeats, losses. This is a sport and in it defeat and victory are always one step away from each other. This must be understood correctly. The main thing is that our athletes fought to the last, defending the honor of the country. At the Olympic Games, the delegation of Uzbekistan won 3 gold and 2 bronze medals and took 32nd place among 206 countries in the team competition. We became the fifth among Asian countries, after such world sports powers as China, Japan, South Korea and Iran, took the second place among the CIS countries after the Russian Olympic Committee, the first place among Turkish-speaking countries and the first place in Central Asia. Undoubtedly, such a result will be a worthy gift to the New Uzbekistan, as well as to the 30th anniversary of our independence.
We can say a lot about the participation of each of our athletes at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. In particular, our record holder Akbar Juraev, the youngest Olympic champion in the history of independent Uzbekistan Ulugbek Rashitov, our flag bearer, Bahodir Zhalolov, the star of Uzbek judo Davlat Bobonov, freestyle wrestler Bekzod Abdurakhmanov. Everyone is talking about their victory today. It is also worth noting the participation of our athletes, such as Oksana Chusovitina, Muattar Nabieva, Safina Sadullayeva, Tursunoy Rakhimova, Olga Zabelinskaya, Nikita Rafalovich, Dilnoza Rakhmatova, Zainab Daibekova, who fought for victory with the strongest athletes in the world, striking everyone with their courage.
Our esteemed President has always paid great attention to the development of the sports sphere, created all the necessary conditions for athletes. Today's achievements at the Tokyo Olympics are the result of the attention, care and support provided by the Head of State.
The closing ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is currently taking place. In 3 years, at the Paris-2024 Olympics, Uzbek athletes will continue the series of victories of Uzbekistan at the Games. Our young athletes proved this at the Tokyo Olympics. Thank you for the unforgettable moments of Tokyo, meet our new victories, Paris!
The delegation of Uzbekistan, which participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, will arrive in Tashkent on a charter flight on August 9 at 20:00.
