Tokyo-2020: change in the composition of the delegation of Uzbekistan
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, there was a change in the composition of the delegation of Uzbekistan. Ekaterina Fetisova will participate in the individual rhythmic gymnastics program instead of Sabina Tashkent.
Unfortunately, the coronavirus also affected Sabina Tashkent, who won a license for the Tokyo Olympics through the World Cup stages. Due to the deterioration of her health, Tashkent will not be able to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The Gymnastics Federation of Uzbekistan has notified the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) about this. FIG noted that the license should have been obtained by a gymnast who occupies a place in the ranking after Tashkent Bayeva. This position was taken by the representative of Korea, but she said that she would not participate in the Olympic Games, because at the moment she is not in the best athletic shape.
Another representative of our national team, Ekaterina Fetisova, takes the next place after the Korean gymnast. Fetisova will replace Tashkent, as she is in good athletic shape. Thus, Ekaterina Fetisova will defend the honor of our country in the qualifying stage at tomorrow's individual program.
"The Tokyo Olympics continues. I was supposed to take part in these competitions together with the national team of Uzbekistan in rhythmic gymnastics. Unfortunately, the coronavirus did not bypass me and my tests, which I passed before leaving, gave a positive result. In this regard, I will not be able to participate in the Olympics. Instead of me, the honor of the country will be defended by Ekaterina Fetisova and I wish her good luck. My coach and I have been preparing very hard for these Games and I have won this license with great effort and effort. However, I was not lucky enough to take part in the Games in Tokyo. This is a difficult period for me now. I express my gratitude to the National Olympic Committee, representatives of the federation, coaches and all those who support me, " Sabina Tashkent said.
The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan wishes a speedy recovery to our athlete.
