A solemn ceremony of welcoming the heroes of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics was held in the Yangi Uzbekistan Park

The delegation of Uzbekistan, which took part in the XVI Paralympic Games in Tokyo, returned to Tashkent. The heroes were solemnly greeted by representatives of the broad sports community.

A welcoming ceremony of the delegation representatives was held at Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov. After that, the participants of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in special buses headed to the Yangi Uzbekiston Park, which was built recently, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of Independence of our country. The main part of the celebration was held in this park.

The event was also attended by Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Nurdinjon Ismailov, who congratulated the Paralympians on their victory. Then the National Poet of Uzbekistan expressed his admiration for the performances of para-athletes at the Games and read his poem to them. Also, Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan Raino Shodieva and People's Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan Yedgor Sadiyev expressed their warm wishes.

Further, the Tokyo 2020 champions - para-taekwondo Gulzhanoy Naimova and para-judoka Uchkun Kuranbayev expressed that they were very pleased with the attention and care provided by the Head of State and that such support motivates them very much.

Then, the winners of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games were presented with gifts from the President - gold medalists received a Tahoe car and a three-room apartment, silver medalists - a Traverse car and a two-room apartment, bronze medalists - a Trailblazer car and a one-room apartment. At the end of the event, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, People's Artist of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov made a speech, who pleased all those present with his songs. At the end, a festive fireworks display was arranged.

We remind you that at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, the delegation of Uzbekistan won 8 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze and took the 16th place among 162 countries in the team competition.
